The Tea Party has a contract
The Tea Party is set to unveil its Contract with America today. The interesting parts is the contract's ten points were decided via internet voting. Obviously the contract is a play on the Republican's 1994 Contract WITH America, which swept the party into congressional power in a landslide.
US health care reform notes 12/28/09
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (SC) says he could back legislation that doesn't include a public option, further signaling that the final health care bill from both houses will resemble the Senate version.

Newt Gingrich and the Tea Party are pushing for Republicans in the 2010 and 2012 elections to run on a platform of repealing any health care bill that passes.

Congress is currently not in session, the House returns on January 11th, Senate on the 18th. Though loose negotiations are said to be taking place between the chambers, nothing official will happen until the chambers gavel back into session.
Paying for tea
Trying to build on the Tea Party movement, conservatives are starting various PACs (Political Action Committees) in the hopes of bringing multiple small dollar donations. But the number of groups in the larger Tea Party arena may lead to fracturing.
Party like it’s 1773.
The big Tea Party Protest is going on in downtown DC today. Washington Post. LA Times. Photos from this morning. It's supposed to be the biggest and final event of a three-day series of protests that started Thursday. Washington Independent interviewed some attendees and has ongoing coverage, including documents from Thursday's Liberty Summit organized by FreedomWorks. Tea Party 2.0
Following up on the success of the tax day Tea Parties, Governors Rick Perry (Texas) and Mark Sanford (South Carolina) will be hosting the "Fight for Freedom Call" on Thursday, 8:30pm EST. Both Governors will speak for a few minutes and then open have the floor for a one hour town hall style meeting which will allow citizens to phone in and voice their concerns or ask questions (sign up here). 30,000 are expected to attend.    Continues...
