Yeah, he signaled that he would be doing this once his term was over, something about a need to replenish the coffers after all that government work. What the hell, after being the president, you might at well capitalize on the experience.
To liberals, it'll be a reason to laugh, especially considering Obama's ability to speak. For Republicans, it'll be time to bask in the sun of the glory years: "The House, the Senate, The Presidency, we had it ALL, 'till those damn (insert enemy here) stole it/distracted us/swindled us but we shall rise again!" Or some such.
Oh, it's no surprise, of course. The cash is one thing, the need to still feel important another.
I think the 'conversation' format means he won't have to prepare anything, nor give detailed answers (i.e. talk out of his ass). Keep expectations low.
Oddly enough, the unscripted format is where he'll allow himself to get into trouble. (Not that that's mattered before...)
True enough. Friendly crowds, and even then, if there is some dissent, the moment itself tends to cast a blanket deference over the whole affair (or at least was my experience, listening to Powell at one of these things).

No if you're drinking the kool-aid.
