Israel, meet the new boss, same as the old boss
Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the right wing Likud party, is leading in Israeli elections. If elected, relations between the U.S. and Israel may become strained.

"We have never had, since the dawn of the nuclear age, nuclear weapons in the hands of such a fanatical regime..."

We're talking about technology that is 60+ years old. The genie isn't going to be kept in the bottle forever, and if not Iran, then some other state. I would think that such a policy of containment has an expiry date writ large upon it, and it may be time rethink the overall international approach to nuclear proliferation.
Hell, just give it to them. If it's going to be a problem, we might as well deal with it now instead of passing the buck.
I'm just saying (in my awkward way) that containment is going to become a less and less viable option as we go forward. The Plan B of 'what to do if they got the bomb' is moving to the forefront by the simple march of time, and deserves more consideration than it seems to get at present.
I was mostly serious, but there's no practical way that'll happen and it would be political suicide.

Supposedly the recent battle with Hamas gave Israel a chance to try out new underground bombs, so clearly they're planning for the future, but I'm betting it's just more of the same.
Yeah, I've heard that about Gaza also. But I've also been hearing for years now about Israel getting ready to attack Iran, so who knows if this is just noise or what. No doubt they tested new weapons and techniques in Gaza, but again, who knows?
