A different kind of message to Iran
Post ID #723 | RSS comments feed for this post
President Obama sent a video message to the Islamic Republican of Iran, delivered during Nowruz (meaning "New Day""), a traditional new year holiday celebrated by Iranians.
Obama's open hand approach is different from Bush's hardline view, but what is he trying to achieve, what does he really mean?
Whatever subtle messages are intended, Iran has been quick to respond, asking for 'not only positive words but positive action.'

Some analysis from ABC's dubai news desk. Basically, Obama is hitting lots of good marks with the message and the Iranian populace is warm to the message. The government isn't quite as thrilled. The video hit a lot of positive points that speak to the populace as people instead of as the usual "other".

An official response from Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, essentially saying "thanks for the kind words, but that's not doing much." Republicans are going to love that.
